Burg Eltz, or Eltz Castle, is one of the most attractive of the many castles to be found along the Mosel Valley. This particular one is located close to Münstermaifeld. It was built on a rocky outcrop from the 16th century and is today very well preserved. It has the appearance of a fairytale castle. The castle is still in private hands, however it is open for public visits. Guided tours take visitors around many of the halls and rooms, where original furniture and works of art can be seen. There is also an exhibition of weapons and armour.
