The Bayerisches Nationalmuseum on Prinzregentenstraβe is one of the most architecturally stunning museums in Europe. It features a Romanesque east wing, a Renaissance west side, a baroque tower and a rococo west wing. It was built in 1900 and today houses collections just as stunning as the different external façades. These include exhibits on German cultural history from the Middle Ages to the 19th century. Items such as wooden sculptures and other religious arts and crafts. You will also find a collection of Bavarian Prehistoric finds. Just outside the museum’s east wing is a statue of the Angel of Peace, built 25 years after the Germans defeated the French in 1871.
