The Asamkirche – real name Church of St. John Nepomuk – was built by local architect and sculptor Egid Quirin Asam between 1733 and 1746. Although it was planned to be a private church for the architect, public protest forced it to open its doors to all. Inside you will be wowed by the sheer extravagance of the sculpting, painting and decoration, especially around the high altar with its huge Crucifixion scene.
