St. Marien’s Church (Marienkirche) in Lemgo is a Gothic hall style church on Stiftstrasse which originally belonged to a convent until the reformation. The church was built between 1350 and 1370. Inside the church is a swallows’ nest organ dating from around 1613, built by a Dutchman and two brothers from Hamburg, it is thought to be one of the nicest sounding instruments in Europe, and is still played regularly. The font and other figures around the church are the work of local sculptor Georg Crossman from the 14th century.
