The Naumann Museum is another part of Köthen castle (Schloss). It is located inside the Neoclassical Ferdinandsbau. This museum is in dedication to Johann Friedrich Naumann – the famous ornithologist who lived in the town in the 19th century. The museum is a fantastic exhibition of birds and taxidermy. All manner of species from Naumann’s collection are on display. As well as the actual birds, many of the man’s sketches and book volumes are also exhibited. The museum is open most days for a small entrance fee.
