Schloss Köthen is a large castle on the edge of the town. The Renaissance southern wing is now the town’s History Museum. Included here are displays on the town’s past, including famous citizens, buildings, folklore and religion. It has an impressive collection of items relating to Bach’s life and stay in the town from 1717 to 1723. It’s worth having a look at the Castle Chapel, and the two large rooms now used for concerts, plus the throne room.
