Jever’s main attraction is its castle, sitting pretty and pink in the town’s centre. It dates from the 15th century when it served as a fortified castle. It was later turned into a Renaissance palace by Fräulein Maria in the 16th century. The interior of the palace is exquisitely decorated with carved oak ceilings and goldprinted leather. It now serves as a museum, open year-round. Visitors can see the restored residential rooms and their furnishings. They can also enjoy the English style gardens and café. Guided tours are available. Concerts are often held here in the summer.
