The Hessen Regional Museum (Hessisches Landesmuseum) in Kassel is situated in a wonderful Neo-Baroque house dating from 1910. The most notable items displayed here are astronomical instruments which were used in the town’s former castle, dating to 1560. Other areas include and ethnography collection, Hessian folklore and costumes, and the specialist Wallpaper Museum within the complex. This latter museum-within-a-museum displays different styles and examples from all over the world and some are many years old. The museum has an entrance fee and is open year-round.
