Florinsmarkt is an old market square in central Koblenz, alongside the River Mosel. It is lined with some of the city’s best buildings, such as the church of St. Florin (from which it takes its name), dating from the 12th century. The Mittelrheinisches Museum of archaeology occupies some of the buildings, and the Schöffenhaus and Bürresheimer date from 1660. The Kaufhaus in the centre dates from 1419. Here an image of Johann von Kobem sticks his tongue out at passers-by every 30 minutes. The real-life robber was beheaded in 1536.
