The Church of St. Martin is the main church in the old town area of Landshut. It is a late Gothic triple nave church which was first noted around 1392. The current building was completed around 1500, and it features the world’s tallest brick spire, standing at 130.6 metres. The building has five portals which are decorated with terra cotta figures. Inside is a sandstone altar from 1424 and a chancel from 1429. An important Gothic carved Madonna by Hans Leinberger dates from 1518. The tomb of the church’s architect, Hans von Burghausen, is in the southern part of the building. The church is still in use, and has the status of a Lesser Basilica.
