The wonderful basilica church of St. Castor in Koblenz was built between 817 and 836 by the bishop of Trier. It was later extended into the building we see today, with its two smart towers and ornate exterior. The collegial basilica was the site of a treaty signing in 843 between the three sons of Ludwig I the Pious, which divided the Carolingian Empire. Inside, visitors are treated to the wall epitaphs of different bishops of Trier. There is also a pulpit dating from 1625.
