Just to the north of the Schloss in Kassel is the Ballhaus. This is a small Neoclassical building which was built by Napoleon’s brother in 1808 to serve as a theatre. Leo von Klenze (Maser architect of Munich) designed the building. Later it was converted into a ballroom, with mock-Pompeian décor. Today the building is used as a display space for temporary exhibitions – usually of art. You can find out about upcoming displays from its website. There is usually an entrance fee.
