Wangenheim Palace is one of the Hannover buildings built by architect Georg Friedrich Laves. It stands by the Laveshaus – his own classical mansion house home. Wangenheim was built between 1829 and 1832, with the addition of a winter garden in 1844. The building was acquired by George V as a royal palace in 1851. The city of Hannover took control of the building ten years later to use it as a city hall. In World War 2 it was gutted by a bomb, and later rebuilt. Today it is the seat of the Ministry of Economic Affairs of Lower Saxony.
