Villa Hügel is a wonderful Classical style chateaux residence to the south of Essen on the edge of the Baldeneysee reservoir. The villa was built from 1868 to 1872 by Alfred Krupp and includes a manor, guest house and 75 hectares of landscaped gardens and forest. Its prominent position gives great views over the lake. At the villa, visitors can view the Krupp historical collection and displays on “Krupp Today”. There are also many international art exhibitions and concerts held at the villa each year. See the website for details.
