Frankfurt’s Stadtwald, or City Forest, is the largest area of city-owned forest anywhere in Germany. Located to the south of Frankfurt city centre, close to the airport, the forest covers 4,500 hectares and stretches 16km. In it visitors can stroll leisurely along a variety of pathways and cycle routes, and discover eight ponds. Six million people visit the forest every year. There is also a fairground put up one weekend every year, with rides and beer tents which locals love.
