The Ruhrland Museum in Essen covers the history of the city and the surrounding Ruhr region. There are many artefacts on display, and ever changing exhibitions – see the website for temporary exhibition schedules. Of the permanent displays are those on geology, folklore, archaeology, and the history of industry in the area, with plenty of photographs and interactive displays. There is also a library, shop and café at the museum. The museum is open every day.
