The Nannen Kunsthalle, or art gallery, in Emden was set up by Henri Nannen in the early 1990s. Nannen was the publisher of the popular magazine Stern. The gallery houses his collections of 19th century paintings. Of note, there are works by German Expressionists such as Emil Nolde, Max Beckmann and Oskar Kokoschka. The gallery always has temporary exhibitions and collections passing through. See the website for details. It is open most days and has a small entrance fee.
