The Innere Brücke is probably the most memorable sight in Esslingen. It is a bridge dating from the 14th century. The stone bridge has 10 arches, and has many buildings situated on top, which today are houses and shops. The bridge spans the river Neckar, although today much of the span is actually over dry ground since the river is less wide today. The bridge is an icon of the town today, and very photogenic with its ramshackle of buildings atop.
