Frankfurt’s Zoo is one of the oldest and most loved in Germany. It opened in 1898 and is notable for being a city zoo, surrounded by residential areas. Despite this, visitors feel they are in an area of wilderness. Frankfurt Zoo is also known for it’s policy of not having fences and cages between the animals and public, but instead using ditches to keep them separate. This creates a unique experience of almost being with the animals. The Zoo features a well-loved nocturnal house and many larger animals which are sure to delight.
