Frankfurt’s History Museum is located at the southern end of the Römerberg square. It is a concrete building, opened in 1972 as part of the city’s regeneration following damage from World War 2. Inside the museum demonstrates many items from the city’s past, including the highly detailed medieval city model, and many finds from prehistoric and Roman Frankfurt, and parts of war-damaged buildings. Part of the museum uses the Saalhof, which dates from the 12th century.
