Eschenheimer Turm is a medieval tower in the middle of Frankfurt’s city centre, set in an island in a busy intersection of roads. This is one of the few remnants of the once great medieval city of Frankfurt and its walled fortifications. It was completed in 1428 and once part of a series of 60 towers which encompassed the city. The turreted Eschenheimer Turm was once one of the entrance gate towers to the city, and was saved from demolition when many of the other towers were removed to allow expansion of the city.
