The Dom, or Cathedral, of St. Peter in Fritzlar was founded in 724 as a Benedictine church by St. Boniface. The original church was replaced by a basilica in 1118, and this was later remodelled in the 13th and 14th centuries. The church features dominant twin towers which can be seen from miles around. Inside, the harmonious interior features a crypt with notable tombs. There is also a treasure museum in the cathedral, showing the various religious artefacts and items collected over the years. There is a small admission fee.
