Frankfurt’s Dom Cathedral was one of the only buildings to survive the bombings of World War 2. It is a Gothic-style Catholic church, dedicated to St. Bartholomew, and built between the 13th- and 15th centuries. Because of its tall tower, it was dubbed the first skyscraper in Frankfurt, and it today still affords excellent views over the city for those who climb it. The Cathedral was the site of many coronations of German kings from 1356, and Holy Roman Emperors from 1562. Inside there are frescoes from the 15th century, and the Dom Museum which houses religious objects and artefacts.
