The Commerzbank Tower in Frankfurt is the second tallest skyscraper in Europe, standing at 300 metres. It was designed by Sir Norman Foster and opened in 1997 in the centre of the city’s business district. The building is constructed around indoor gardens which are suspended at three different levels in the building, each housing plants from different parts of the world. Elevators travel up the three corners of the building, and at the top is an extended tower. At night, the building is lit up yellow, giving it an otherworldly appearance. Sadly only the foyer is open to the public.
