The City Church (Stadtkirche) of St. Marien is the largest church in Greiz. It was formerly the court church, and was rebuilt in 1805 following the great fire a few years prior. Thus it is quite modern, yet retains a fine galleried interior and many historical items of note. The tomb of Heinrich VI from 1697, who died in the Battle of Zenta, is here. There is also an organ by the Jemlich brothers of Dresden. Externally, the church has a single tall tower.
