Bergedorf Castle is situated in the Hamburg suburb of the same name. It was formerly a medieval building which acted as a tax collection point on a busy trade route. Today the restored building houses a local history museum. Its exhibitions include collections from the Middle Ages, 19th and 20th centuries, photographic exhibits, art collections, and a fine collection of costumes from various eras. There is also a café, library and museum shop. Temporary exhibitions are held throughout the year.
