Alsterarkaden is an area of Hamburg built after the great fire in 1842. It is a pleasant little riverside arcade area which is inspired by Venice and has changed very little since it was built. It is a great place to relax in one of the many cafes – especially in their outdoor areas during good weather, where you can enjoy the view to the Rathaus across the river. There are also plenty of shops to browse in the Alsterarkaden.
