Many victims of the concentration camp in Dachau – 1,268 in all - were laid to rest in the Waldfriedhof Cemetery. The Jewish prisoners who died during the march to the camp are also buried here. There is a large monument on the site which remembers those Jews who suffered here, and also a monument to the Austrian victims of the camp. Another monument to the victims of the Dachau Uprising in 1945 can be found among the tombstones near the entrance. The cemetery is a quiet and sobering place to remember the events of the past in Dachau.
