The current Rathaus, or Town Hall, in Duisburg was built between 18972 and 1902. It stands tall and proud on the Burgplatz in the centre of the city. There has been a town hall on this site since the 1300s. It was decided to build the current structure when the town experienced an influx of population as its industries began to grow rapidly. It stand 67 metres tall, with wings and a tower. Its interior is decorated very ornately. Restorations took place following damage in World War 2.
