The Television Tower (Fernsehturm) in Berlin stands in its very centre, alongside Alexanderplatz and is the tallest structure in the city, standing at 368 metres tall. It was built in 1965-69 and is the only tower of its kind to be so centrally located in a city in Europe. Visitors can ascend to the viewing floor at 203 metres, or enjoy the revolving Telecafé at 250 metres, which has a seating area that revolves every half hour. It takes 40 seconds to reach the viewing area in one of the two elevators.
