Schloss Lembeck, near Dorsten, is one of Münsterland’s wasserburg water castles. It dates originally to the 14th century, however it has undergone many changes and rebuilding periods over the centuries. Today it resembles a mansion more than a castle. This Baroque style came about under Johann Conrad Schlaun. The castle today houses three museums – the schloss museum, covering the history of the castle itself, as well as the Heimatmuseum, covering the local area, and the Merveldt Galerie, which houses an exhibition of art. All three gain you access to the interior of the castle.
