Schloss Hohenaschau is the dominating feature in the town of Aschau im Chiemgau in Bavaria. The huge castle was first built around 1165. Over subsequent centuries ownership changed hands between local families of note. It also changed shape into the imposing residence we see today. The public are able to take guided tours of the castle during the summer months to see the restored rooms and learn of its history. Concerts are also held here regularly, with details from the local tourist information office.
