The dominating structure on Düsseldorf’s skyline is the Rheinturm tower, which stands at 240.5 metres tall. It is a telecommunications tower, opened in 1981, located close to the city centre. Visitors can take a high-speed elevator to the viewing area at 170 metres, which guarantees the best views of Dusseldorf and the surrounding areas. Also one level up is a revolving restaurant in which you can enjoy the panoramic views over a meal. The tower boasts the world’s largest digital clock – the Lichtzeitpegel – which is a light sculpture on the tower’s shaft.
