The Natural History and Prehistory Museum in Dessau is situated in a building dating from 1750, with a 40 metre high tower which can be seen across the town. It was inspired by the Santo Spirito hospital in Rome. The museum covers six floors, with each covering a part of the Earth’s history through paleontology, geology, biology and mineralogy. Exhibitions include Underground Treasures and many displays of animals and fossils. Most of the items cover the Dessau region.
