The Museum of German Inland Navigation in Duisburg is situated in the former Art Nouveau style swimming pool, which is itself a scheduled historic monument. The museum covers the full history of inland navigation, with technical information and demonstrations and exhibitions about the life of sailors who worked the waterways and the various ships they used through history up to the present day. There are plenty of models and photographs, and lots of information on Germany’s main waterway – the Rhine. There are two museum ships near the museum – the Oscar Huber paddle steamer, and Minden bucket dredger.
