The Märkisches Museum in Berlin is located in the centre of the city. It tells the story of Berlin’s history from the Middle Ages to the present day, covering architecture, war and cultures in lively detail. There are many items in the collection, from old household items to an 1881 phone book with only 41 entries. The building itself is significant, dating from 1899-1908 and designed by Ludwig Hoffmann. It includes a restored Gothic chapel and guildhall. Outside is a lovely park.
