The Media-Hafen is the redeveloped old commercial harbour of Düsseldorf. The harbour was originally built in the 16th century, coming into fruition by the 19th century. However, by the 1970s it was in major decline and regeneration began. Today the harbour is the home of numerous hi-tech companies and modern buildings and housing. The area is very popular for its bars, beergardens and restaurants, and is particularly attractive at night when the lights of the city backdrop reflect in the waters.
