The Meisterhäuser in Dessau are the Masters’ Houses – a collection of five buildings which were once lived in by Bauhaus Art College professors famous for their work in architecture. Although some of the buildings were destroyed in World War 2, these five survived, including ones lived in by Lyonel Feininger and Paul Klee. These houses are open to the public, and have been restored with informative exhibitions on the works and lives of the professors. The houses are a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
