The Lippisches Landesmuseum is the main museum of the Lippe region, telling its history through many exhibits. The museum is split into two buildings on the site – one covering natural history, and the other covering archaeology, local history and folklore. In the first, many displays on the geology and wildlife of the area are on offer. The other features items excavated in and around Detmold, and a number of period rooms and farming exhibits such as a rebuilt tithe barn and granary. There is a small entrance fee.
