A popular attraction alongside the village of Aschau im Chiemgau is the Kampenwand Mountain. This peak rises to 1,669 metres at its tallest point. It is a haven for hikers and rock climbers. For the less energetic, a cable car can be taken from Aschau to the summit for the price of a ticket. Hiking will take over three hours. Views from the top take in miles of surrounding countryside, mountains and lakes. It is worth the excursion when in the area.
