The Verkehrsmuseum is situated in the Johanneum – a late 16th century Renaissance royal stables building in Dresden’s old town. From the 18th century it was used as a gallery to display paintings, and later as an armoury and porcelain gallery. In 1956 it was turned into the Museum of Transport. Here you will find all manner of old trams, trains, cars and model ships on display. There are also displays on the history of Germany’s influence in certain areas of transport, such as aviation, shipping, railways and public transport.
