Cologne’s Imhoff-Stollwerck Museum is more commonly known simply as the Chocolate Museum. It is naturally one of Cologne’s most popular attractions and has been open since 1993. The museum charts the 3,000 year history of the sweet substance, from its first incarnation as a drink which the Mayans made, to today’s many different forms and worldwide popularity. Chocolate is also made on the premises, so you can watch (and sample) the production line. Naturally the souvenir shop is a mecca for anything related to chocolate (there are other snacks available in the café too!)
