The Hofgarten is Dusseldorf’s largest park, set in the heart of the city. It is very popular with locals and visitors for strolling, jogging, sunbathing and escaping the busy city. The park was originally laid out for the royal family in the 16th century, and left to ruin and destruction at various points over time. The current English landscape style of the park was laid out by Napoleon during the French occupation of Dusseldorf.
