The Hetjens-Museum in Dusseldorf Altstadt is a museum displaying the art and history of ceramics. Its collection is the only devoted display in Germany, and contains 20,000 exhibition pieces from all over the world. It was set up in 1909 from the collection Laurenz Heinrich Hetjens, who donated it to the city after his death. Pieces of note include Anatolian vessels from 6000BC, Mesopotamian grave objects from 3500BC, ancient painted vases from Greece, and Italian majolica. Special exhibits and themes are changed throughout the year.
