Hermann Hesse was born in Calw, and was known to love the town above all – proclaiming Calw “The most beautiful town of all that I know.” He went on to become a famous writer of novels, despite going into exile in Switzerland. Today this museum is the prime attraction in Calw, set up to tell the story of Hesse and show some of his works and memorabilia. There is an entrance fee to the museum.
