Map
The famous poet and playwright – author of Faust – Johann Goethe was born in Frankfurt. This museum was set up to commemorate him, with many collections and artefacts on show that will delight the fan, including a selection of artworks inspired by his works. The museum is situated in the grand Schloss Jägerhof next to Dusseldorf’s Hofgarten. The Baroque palace, completed in 1772 was damaged in World War 2 and refitted as the Goethe Museum. Goethe was known to have stayed in Dusseldorf on the opposite side of the Hofgarten to the palace in 1774 and 1792.
