The Gedenkstätte Plötzensee is located to the north east of Schloss Charlottenburg in Berlin. The site is a memorial to those who died under Nazi persecution, built opposite the site of a prison where thousands of people were tortured and executed between 1933 and 1945. The sheds that were used for the executions have been preserved for visitors to see, with historic death warrants and other documents on display. Guides are available in English and other languages.
