The Fürstenzug is a fantastic frieze depicting a procession of many former Saxon rulers which is 102 metres long. It was created by Wilhelm Walther in 1872, and replaced with the current 24,000 tiles in 1907. It is situated on the Langer Gang – a long walkway connecting the castle residence with the Johanneum. It was built from 1586 to 1591. The area features arcades and a courtyard. It was used many times for tournaments and parades. This is the best way to walk between the two important parts of old Dresden.
