One of the best museums in Annaberg-Buchholz is the Frohnauer Hammer. This is a former mill complex just below the old town centre, which dates originally to the 15th century. Much of what you see was developed in the 17th century. Visitors to the mill can take guided tours to see the inner workings of the grain mill, which later was used for copper and iron production – the only one of its kind left in Europe. Nearby is the Herrenhaus, which is the former mansion house of the mill owner. It can also be visited.
