The Erzgebirgsmuseum in Buchholz is a museum telling the history of the town. In particular it covers the mining and industrial history of the region. There are also displays on local folklore, including art from the Middle Ages, and historical weapons. Visitors can also enter a former mine from the 15th century, seeing the original conveyors, and traces of iron ore. This is a fascinating insight into the industry before modern technology took over. The museum is open most days.
